Ashvita’s presents Madras Modern: Art from the Madras School, an exhibition exploring the evolution of the Madras Art Movement and its contribution to modern Indian art. Bringing together works by seven artists, including P. Perumal, S.K. Rajavelu, R. Varadarajan and Premalatha Seshadri, the exhibition traces a distinctive artistic language shaped by South India’s cultural traditions, rural life, rituals and everyday experiences. Through figurative painting, abstraction and explorations of line, colour and form, it highlights the movement’s diverse approaches to modernism and its place in Indian art history.
