Anant Art presents Mycelial Legacies IV: The Ground We Share, the fourth chapter of an ongoing curatorial project initiated by London-based curator and Faculty of Fine Arts alumna Deeksha Nath. This edition brings together recent and new works by 20 emerging women artists associated with the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Vadodara — one of India’s most influential sites for contemporary art education and experimentation.
Curated as part of a long-term inquiry into the function and transmission of artistic legacy, Mycelial Legacies IV builds on questions central to the project since its inception in 2023: How do institutions seed, sustain, and shape creative generations? How does legacy function as a living, networked force rather than a fixed inheritance? This iteration turns its gaze toward the youngest generation of women artists connected to the Faculty, exploring how their practices reflect, resist, and reconfigure what is often referred to as the “Baroda School.”
Spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, and installation, the exhibition is not arranged by theme or chronology, but rather through a constellation of resonances: material and conceptual experimentation, interdisciplinary practices, the embodied presence of the artist, and sustained engagement with lived and local realities. These threads reflect both individual sensibilities and collective undercurrents shaped by gender, pedagogy, and place.
