Gallery Ragini presents not just a doodle: Drawings, animations and tapestries of Tilak Samarawickrema, a retrospective of the Sri Lankan artist curated by Ina Puri.
Tilak Samarawickrema’s 60-year career spans architecture, art, and design, and the exhibition showcases Samarawickrema’s evolution from an architect to an artist through the diversity of mediums he used – copper plate etchings, ink on paper, handwoven cotton, animations, etc. While exploring Buddhist and Hindu visual traditions, he developed a distinct style of line drawings resembling Sinhala calligraphy.
