“The Animator’s Lab” is a one-day creative workshop happening at KNMA Saket, designed to immerse participants in the imaginative world of animation. Led by award-winning animator Kartik Mahajan of IBK Productions, the session introduces how stories are born from simple sketches and raw ideas to express visual worlds. Through engaging discussions, demos, and hands-on exercises, participants will explore the foundations of character design, visual language and world building.
A special highlight of the workshop is the screening of Kartik’s internationally acclaimed animated film Phool Dei. After the screening, Kartik will walk participants through the creative journey behind the film, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at concept development, stylistic decisions, and the animation process. This sets a strong foundation for the practical activities that follow.
Participants will then reinterpret Indian folk stories through their own visual lens, using drawing, clay modelling, or collage. The experience remains open, playful, and deeply creative transforming the space at KNMA Saket into a lively animation lab where characters take shape, worlds expand, and stories unfold.
