S.K. Rajavelu - Untitled

Rajavelu: The Body, As Is., features the drawings of Modern artist S.K. Rajavelu. For S. K. Rajavelu, line was not simply a tool of drawing; it was the foundation of his artistic language. Across decades of practice, he returned again and again to the human figure, building it not through heavy shading or illusion, but through clear, steady contour. In his hands, line became structure, balance, and belief.
His figures may appear simple, even flat, but they are carefully constructed. Line holds the body together, defines space without deep perspective, and sustains balance across the surface. For Rajavelu, the body was not a fragment to be stylised, but a complete and indivisible presence. Even in his nudes, the figure is not spectacle, but a site where rhythm, proportion, and harmony are explored.
