Art lawyers Siddharth Mehta and Noor Kadhim, eco-sexual artist Moss and cultural manager and co-founder of Ajaibghar, Nanditi Khilnani, discuss how technology is shaping the art world today, from introducing new digital tools and techniques to shedding light on the changing legal system and know-how with artists and audiences. The conversation will be moderated by art writer and curator Srinivas Aditya Mopidevi.
Nanditi Khilnani: Nanditi works & creates in the intersectional spaces of technology, art, culture & community. After a long stint in technology, product management & L&D at Google, she pivoted towards tech-art & culture to bring forth a transdisciplinary practice & thought-process in art & culture projects. She is the co-founder of Ajaibghar, which brings exciting interventions in creative fields & new technology utilising the approaches of creative tech, cultural strategy & community building. Nanditi is also a classical trained vocalist & musician/live-coder, creating raga-based electronic music through code.
Siddharth Mehta: Siddharth Mehta is the Managing Partner of Mehta & Padamsey, one of the oldest full-service Indian law firms which, in addition to other offerings, also focuses on art and antiquities laws, transactions and policy. Siddharth has represented artists, galleries, buyers, sellers, private and public museums, non-profits, family offices, governments and international organisations in these fields and is widely considered an expert on art and antiquities laws.
Srinivas Aditya Mopidevi: Srinivas Aditya Mopidevi is an Independent writer and curator based in New Delhi. He is currently the Principal Investigator at the interdisciplinary lab Pollinator.io and a Visiting Professor of Visual Arts at Ashoka University. Previously, he was involved in research and curatorial projects with Park Avenue Armory, Asia Society in New York, and held positions with Devi Art Foundation, Raqs Media Collective, and Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.
Kaldi Moss: Kaldi Moss is an eco-sexual artist whose practice spans sound, film, browser based art, installations and concerts. They are interested in sense perception, time, networked systems, technology, intelligence and experience of beings that are not human. Moss is artistic director of Walkin Studios; an independent multidisciplinary art studio and project space in bangalore. And co-founder of the collective NOTAAT with artist and scientist Puneet Jain. Moss lives and works between Goa and Bangalore.
Noor Kadhim: Noor Kadhim is an English qualified Solicitor-Advocate and art lawyer with over 14 years’ dispute resolution and arbitration experience. Founder of Kadhims, her clients include entrepreneurs, SMEs, artists and galleries, as well as litigation funds. She is a member on the IBA Global Sub Committee on Art and Cultural Heritage.
Titled ‘Align & Disrupt’, the talks programme curated by independent curator and educator Shaleen Wadhwana, and supported by Shiv Nadar – Institution Of Eminence, aims to align voices of leading artists and arts professionals on critical issues in the arts ecosystem, and collectively disrupt the status quo to shape a more aware and inclusive art world of the future. For the first time, the key learnings and insights from these talks will be documented in an action-plan which will be widely circulated and made accessible to the public on the India Art Fair website. All talks will be conducted in Indian Sign Language.
