British Council and Public Arts Trust of India present, Tiered Reflections, by Liz West. A considerate response to the historical and cultural significance of Toorji ka Jhalra, Tiered Reflections harmonises with the geometry of this iconic stepwell’s central pavilion. Mirrored squares fill the space with vibrant, kaleidoscopic patterns in warm hues, gradually revealing hidden architectural details as the light changes. A vital part of Jodhpur’s heritage, Toorji ka Jhalra is awash with life during the heat of the day and quietly meditative under the moonlight. Evolving with this changing energy, Tiered Reflections extends beyond the visual, fostering an emotional and spiritual connection in the viewer to the space. By responding to the natural ebb and flow of light, the work is more than a static artwork—it integrates into the living energy of the stepwell reflecting its timeless presence in the city.
