The performance will centre the idea of our shared humanity, with the artist playing with and covering himself in mud, and in the act, making literal our common origin and end in the earth.
Gurjeet Singh was born in 1994 in Kothi, Punjab and is a textile artist and is interested in telling stories of typically marginalised voices through soft sculpture. Introduced to art through his family and domestic activities such as stitching, embroidering and machine repair, he developed an early interest in the joy of creation. In his practice, Gurjeet takes an improvisational approach to art, letting his materials guide him in story-telling as much as the people he meets and interacts with. Gurjeet was a recipient of the Inlaks Fine Art Award in 2021. Gurjeet currently lives and works in Chandigarh.
