Akara Contemporary presents Writings on the Wall, a solo exhibition by the artist Subhakar Tadi. In his work, Tadi makes the wall both his subject and his method. He draws from politically charged sites such as the Berlin Wall, covered over decades with testimonies; the West Bank separation barrier, layered with murals; and the US–Mexico border, each bearing its own record of institutional power. He transposes this sensibility onto the canvas, exploring the tension between the freedom of mark-making and the constraints of imposed boundaries, suggesting that what is written on a wall gives voice to what could not be said anywhere else.
