The mid-twentieth century Bengali artists were determined to find a new way to portray their art that would emphasise the life, culture, and political shape of the subsequent time. Bengal, specifically Calcutta ,saw an array of political changes such as the Bengal partition, the Bangladesh Liberation War, Naxal and Leftist movements. Through this era, artists were searching for a way to portray modernism in art. The show exhibits artworks from this era to visualize the journey of Calcutta’s art movement.
