Art Heritage presents Chronicles of [un]Seen Labour[er], a solo exhibition by Howrah-based artist Avijit Dutta exploring the lives and experiences of industrial workers. Drawing from the foundries, workshops, railway yards and streets of Howrah, Dutta’s paintings focus on the physicality of labour, its routines and the relationships formed within working communities. His workers often appear without visible faces, reflecting their anonymity within systems of labour, while their gestures and bodies bring their presence to the foreground. The exhibition also considers solidarity, social distance and the changing conditions of labour in an industrial landscape.
