Akar Prakar presents Friends, an exhibition bringing together works by Vivan Sundaram and Tapan Bhattacharyya, curated by Geeta Kapur. The exhibition grows from the long-standing friendship between the two artists, which began during Sundaram’s History Project at the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata in 1997. Bringing together Sundaram’s sculptures from Postmortem with Bhattacharyya’s drawings and gouaches, the exhibition explores imagined forms, fragmented bodies and unconventional figures. The works offer a glimpse into two distinctive artistic practices shaped by experimentation, imagination and a shared history of friendship.
