Saskia Fernando Gallery in partnership with LYNEAR Wealth Management presents Legacies: H. A. Karunaratne, a group exhibition honouring the pedagogical contributions and enduring influence of Sri Lankan artist and educator H. A. Karunaratne. Bringing together works by S. H. Sarath, Rubert Soysa, Kingsley Gunatillake, Jagath Weerasinghe, Chandraguptha Thenuwara and Jagath Ravindra, the exhibition traces the diverse artistic practices of artists who were shaped by Karunaratne through teaching and mentorship. Widely considered a pioneering figure in Sri Lankan abstract art, Karunaratneโs six-decade practice explored rhythm, energy and dissonance across materials ranging from fabric and tissue to wire, palmyrah and metal. The exhibition situates his practice within Sri Lankaโs modern and contemporary art history while highlighting the distinct creative directions of the artists who followed his influence.
