Rajiv Menon Contemporary presents I Got a Cut in My Flower Valley, Gurjeet Singh’s first solo exhibition outside India, featuring twelve soft sculptures exploring rupture, repair, and the tension between them. Flowers recur in every title, embodying not only beauty but vulnerability, reflecting the complexities of queer life and liberation in India. Balancing joy and violence, Singh’s works hold space for mourning, intimacy, solidarity, and persistence. Set on cinderblock plinths, the sculptures bring construction into dialogue with repair, while layers of fabric, piping, and embroidery conceal and reveal. Their deliberately unfinished stitches begin again and again—a quiet, persistent act of resistance.
