Dara Shikoh Library at Ambedkar University and Seema Kohli studio presents Khula Aasman. The show features mixed-media works, including a multichannel video installation called अक्स-ए-गुज़ि शता (Mirroring the Past), which bridges the geographies of her past and present homes. Silver gelatin prints, enhanced with colors her father acquired in 1957, depict altered family photographs, further enriched by audio excerpts from her father’s autobiography Mitr Pyare Noo. This deeply personal project captures the ephemeral nature of belonging, memory, and home.
Seema’s project Khula Aasman delves into the reconstruction of personal and collective memory through her family’s history, particularly focusing on her ancestral home in Pind Dadan Khan, now in Pakistan. Drawing from family archives, oral narratives, and her father’s autobiography, the project reflects the sense of displacement experienced due to the Partition of India. The title, meaning “Open Sky,” symbolises the boundless hope of a heart yearning for a home beyond reach.
The show is taking place in two locations simultaneously.
