Bringing together new and existing films, Amar Kanwar’s major solo exhibition transforms Serpentine North into an immersive audiovisual environment exploring memory, displacement, power and justice. Drawing on the histories of decolonisation and Partition in the Indian subcontinent, Kanwar’s lyrical films navigate the intersections of personal experience and political realities. The exhibition features Such a Morning (2017), The Peacock’s Graveyard (2023) and the newly commissioned The Charcoal Man (2026), inviting audiences to reflect on the past and its continuing resonance in the present.
