December 6, 2025-February 7, 2026

Srishti Art Gallery, 267 Road no 15, Jubilee Hills Hyderabad

Srishti Art Gallery presents “Celebrating Dashrath Patel (1927 – 2010)” featuring the works Dashrath Patel who is the  most modernist Indian artists of the 1940s to 1980s, Dashrath Patel’s grounding in arts practice was in oils, water colours and sculpture.
The current exhibition celebrating his oeuvre – with a focus on his oils – is made possible by the discovery of an extraordinary cache of over two hundred oil paintings, prints, pastels and water colour, in his home after he passed away in 2010. These are works of the 1950s decade and give a clear sense of the formative stage of the artist’s visual blocking and understanding of light, form and colour which, later, came into full play in his photographs, ceramic works, drawings and collages. This group of paintings also provide an insight into the pedagogic methods followed in Indian art academies during that crucial decade of the 1950s as Indian modernism came into full flow.
