Vadehra Art Gallery presents Rina Banerjee’s solo exhibition Discriminating taste, hallucinations of the tongue, that brings together paintings and hybrid sculptures exploring how taste and identity are shaped by migration, cultural exchange and colonial histories. Drawing on craft traditions and visual languages from across Asia and North Africa, Banerjee creates dreamlike figures and fantastical forms that question ideas of beauty, cultural authenticity and consumption. Her works also explore the fluid nature of identity, drawing on experiences of diaspora and the movement of people, materials and cultures across geographies.
