Founded in 1949 by Gautam and Gira Sarabhai on the suggestion of art historian Ananda Coomaraswamy, the Calico Museum of Textiles holds a five-century collection of Indian textiles, from Kashmiri shawls to hand-dyed double-ikat weaves, alongside sculpture, bronzes and miniature paintings, under the Sarabhai Foundation.
