The Weight of Light, a solo exhibition by French artist Thomas Henriot, brings together large-scale drawings and a selection of sketches, offering a view into the evolution of each work. Executed with Chinese ink on Japanese paper, Henriot’s drawings are made in a single, sustained gesture, often on the ground and in direct response to site. Architecture and landscape enter the work through proximity and scale, rather than composition.
Developed during a recent residency across India, the works respond to specific locations including Basubati Palace in Calcutta, alongside Jodhpur and Benaras. Each piece reflects a direct engagement with built form and environment, registering the physical and spatial conditions of the site.
