Art Centrix presents, The Weight of Light, a solo exhibition of works by Thomas Henriot, a French artist born in Besançon in 1980. Henriot’s practice unfolds through travel, movement, and direct engagement with place. Working in public spaces and on the ground, he creates large-scale drawings on long rolls of Japanese paper, often extending several metres, unfolding them as he draws. Executed primarily in Chinese ink, sometimes punctuated with colour, his works bring together landscapes, architecture, and human presence, blurring the line between observation and memory. Shaped by journeys across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas, his drawings function as visual travelogues—part documentary, part lived experience—where drawing becomes a performative act and a way of inhabiting space. Henriot lives and works between France, Cuba, and India, and his work has been exhibited internationally and is held in significant private and institutional collections worldwide.
